Product Specific Information
Recombinant rabbit monoclonal antibodies are produced using in vitro expression systems. These systems are developed by cloning specific antibody DNA sequences from immunoreactive rabbits. Individual clones are screened to select optimal candidates for production.

Target Information
Calponin is a thin filament-associated protein involved in regulating and modulating smooth muscle contraction. It binds to actin, calmodulin, troponin C, and tropomyosin.
Calponin is expressed in smooth muscle and tissues containing significant amounts of smooth muscle. Two isoforms exist (34 kDa and 29 kDa). The 29 kDa form is primarily found in urogenital tract muscle.
Calponin expression has been observed in myoepithelial cells from benign and malignant breast lesions. It stains smooth muscle, myoepithelial cells, myofibroblasts, keratinocytes, and nerve fibers.
It helps identify myoepithelial cells in breast lesions and differentiate collagenous spherulosis (positive) from adenoid cystic carcinoma. Adenoid cystic carcinoma in salivary gland tumors is calponin positive.
