- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45571 was sufficient for detection of Dicer in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 215 kDa.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S167-7.
Target Information
Dicer is a double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) endoribonuclease that plays a central role in short dsRNA-mediated post-transcriptional gene silencing. It cleaves long dsRNAs and pre-microRNAs (miRNA) into 21–23 nucleotide fragments with 3′ overhangs, producing short interfering RNAs (siRNA) and mature microRNAs.
These small RNAs guide the RNA-induced silencing complex (RISC) to complementary RNAs for degradation or translational repression.
RNA interference regulates both endogenous gene expression and defense mechanisms against exogenous RNA, including viral RNA.
