Product Specific Information
- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45575 was sufficient for detection of NALCN in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 200 kDa.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S187-7.
Target Information
NALCN is a voltage-independent, cation-nonselective channel permeable to sodium, potassium, and calcium ions. It regulates resting membrane potential and neuronal excitability. Activation can occur via neuropeptides such as neurotensin and substance P through SRC family kinases. NALCN function is essential for normal respiratory rhythm, neonatal survival, and systemic osmoregulation by controlling serum sodium concentration. It also contributes to depolarization and pacemaking activity in intestinal interstitial cells of Cajal and modulates neuronal excitability in the substantia nigra pars reticulata.
Diseases associated with NALCN include congenital contractures of the limbs and face, hypotonia, developmental delay, and infantile psychomotor retardation.
