Product Specific Information
- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45573 was sufficient for detection of NALCN in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 200 kDa.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S187-7.
Target Information
Nalcn is a voltage-independent, cation-nonselective channel permeable to sodium, potassium, and calcium ions. It regulates resting membrane potential and neuronal excitability. Neuropeptides such as neurotensin and substance P activate NALCN through SRC family kinases-dependent pathways. Nalcn is essential for normal respiratory rhythm, neonatal survival, and systemic osmoregulation. It contributes to spontaneous firing and excitability modulation in substantia nigra pars reticulata neurons.
Diseases associated with NALCN include congenital contractures of limbs and face, hypotonia, developmental delay, and infantile psychomotor retardation.
