Product Specific Information

This ICBTACLS monoclonal antibody reacts with the hormone insulin, which regulates carbohydrate and fat metabolism. Insulin secretion from pancreatic beta-cells maintains blood glucose levels by promoting glucose uptake and glycogen storage.
Type 1 diabetes results from autoimmune destruction of insulin-producing beta-cells, while type 2 diabetes involves insulin resistance. Insulin also contributes to endothelial function and cognitive processes.

The ICBTACLS antibody recognizes human, mouse, and rat insulin.

Applications Reported: Immunohistochemical staining of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue sections and microscopy.

Applications Tested: Tested by IHC of formalin-fixed paraffin-embedded tissue using low or high pH antigen retrieval. Recommended ≤ 5 µg/mL; titrate for optimal performance.

Target Information

Insulin is a peptide hormone secreted by pancreatic beta cells that regulates carbohydrate, protein, and lipid metabolism. It promotes glucose and amino acid uptake, glycogen storage, triglyceride formation, and protein synthesis.
The mature insulin molecule consists of A and B chains linked by disulfide bonds, derived from proinsulin cleavage.
Insulin deficiency leads to diabetes mellitus and may also be expressed in insulin-producing tumors such as insulinoma.
