Target Information
This gene belongs to the subfamily of ubiquitously expressed heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoproteins (hnRNPs).
hnRNPs are RNA-binding proteins that complex with heterogeneous nuclear RNA, regulating alternative splicing, polyadenylation, and mRNA metabolism and transport.
All hnRNPs are present in the nucleus, but some shuttle between nucleus and cytoplasm.
The hnRNP F protein contains three quasi-RRM domains that bind guanosine-rich RNA sequences and is similar to hnRPH.
Multiple alternatively spliced variants encoding the same protein have been identified.
