인간 세포에는 CDC25A, CDC25B, CDC25C 세 가지 유전자가 존재하며, 각각 세포 주기의 다른 단계에서 작용합니다.
CDC25A는 G1 및 S 단계 진행에 필요하며, CDC2 사이클린 의존성 키나아제를 활성화시켜 세포 분열을 조절합니다.
DNA 손상 시 CDC25A는 분해되어 염색체 이상이 있는 세포의 분열을 억제합니다.
CDC25A는 종양 유전자(onco-gene)로 알려져 있으나, 발암 과정에서의 정확한 역할은 아직 명확히 규명되지 않았습니다.
