Target Information
The CDC6 protein is highly similar to Saccharomyces cerevisiae Cdc6, a protein essential for the initiation of DNA replication. It functions as a regulator at the early steps of DNA replication, localizing in the cell nucleus during G1 phase and translocating to the cytoplasm at the start of S phase. This subcellular translocation is regulated through phosphorylation by Cdks. Transcription of this protein is regulated in response to mitogenic signals via E2F transcription factors.
