Product Specific Information

The YKIX302.9 monoclonal antibody reacts with canine CD4, a surface receptor expressed on most thymocytes, a subset of mature T cells, and dendritic cells. In dogs, CD4 is also highly expressed on neutrophils. CD4 binds to MHC class II molecules on antigen-presenting cells and plays a critical role in T cell development and homeostasis.

This antibody has been reported to block MHC II-restricted T cell responses both in vivo and in vitro.

Target Information

The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is primarily expressed on T helper cells but can also be found on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. Tissue expression includes thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain non-lymphoid tissues such as brain and gut.

CD4 functions to initiate or enhance early T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase. It may also contribute to neuronal damage in immune-mediated diseases of the CNS. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
