The HP-3D9 monoclonal antibody reacts with human CD94, a 70-kDa type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the C-type lectin superfamily. It is expressed by NK cells, NKT cells, and subsets of CD8+ and γδ T cells. CD94 forms heterodimers with NKG2 family members, resulting in either inhibitory (with NKG2A) or activating (with NKG2C/E) receptor complexes. These complexes bind the non-classical MHC Class Ib molecule HLA-E and play key roles in NK cell adhesion and activation.

Crossblocking studies indicate that HP-3D9 and DX22 recognize the same epitope.

Target Information

Natural killer (NK) cells are lymphocytes that mediate cytotoxic activity and cytokine secretion upon immune stimulation. CD94 (KLRD1) is a type II membrane protein preferentially expressed on NK cells and interacts with NKG2 family receptors to regulate NK cell function. Three transcript variants encoding two different isoforms are known for this gene.
