Preparation:
Produced from sera of goats immunized with highly pure Recombinant Murine Resistin. Anti-Murine Resistin-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect mResistin by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL of this antibody is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Murine Resistin (500-P182G) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant mResistin.

Western Blot:
To detect Murine Resistin by Western Blot analysis, this antibody can be used at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Murine Resistin is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane, under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Adipose tissue serves as an energy reserve in animals and is tightly regulated. Adipocytes produce and secrete various physiologically important proteins, including lipoprotein lipase (LPL), leptin, Acrp30, perilipin, and resistin.
Resistin (also known as Adipocyte Secreted Factor, ADSF, or FIZZ3) is a cytokine secreted by adipocytes. Although its function is not fully understood, it appears to play key paracrine roles and has been implicated in type 2 diabetes.
Studies in obese, diabetic mice show elevated serum resistin levels, which antagonize insulin action. Additional research indicates that resistin contributes to insulin resistance and glucose intolerance.
Resistin gene expression is regulated by C/EBPα and coactivators CBP and p300, which acetylate histones at the resistin promoter, activating chromatin for transcription. PPARγ and RXR ligands have been shown to downregulate resistin expression in adipocytes.
