Preparation:
Produced from sera of goats immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat IL-1α. Anti-Rat IL-1α-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Rat IL-1α by sandwich ELISA (using 100 µL/well antibody solution), a concentration of 0.25–1.0 µg/mL is required. This biotinylated polyclonal antibody, in conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Rat IL-1α (500-P180G) as a capture antibody, allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Rat IL-1α.

Western Blot:
To detect Rat IL-1α by Western Blot analysis, use at a concentration of 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. When used with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Rat IL-1α is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

IL-1α (Interleukin-1 alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is encoded by the IL1A gene, signaling through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors shared with IL-1β. Located on chromosome 2q13, IL-1α plays a key role in innate host defense by inducing other proinflammatory cytokines and acute-phase responses.
IL-1α activity is moderated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA), which blocks receptor binding through competitive inhibition.
It is involved in immune responses, inflammation, and hematopoiesis, and regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways. IL-1α can stimulate expression of IL6 and COX-2 (PTGS2) and enhance nitric oxide (NO) production.
Elevated IL-1α levels are associated with chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
