Target Information
PDGFRB is a receptor tyrosine kinase implicated in atherogenesis and cell transformation by the SIS oncogene. These growth factors act as mitogens for mesenchymal cells. The receptor can form homodimers or heterodimers depending on the bound growth factor. The PDGFRB gene, located on chromosome 5, is near the genes for GM-CSF and M-CSF receptor, all potentially associated with the 5-q syndrome. A translocation between chromosomes 5 and 12 fusing PDGFRB (CD140b) with ETV6 leads to chronic myeloproliferative disorder with eosinophilia.
