Product Specific Information
- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45595 was sufficient for detection of ASIC1 in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 60 kDa.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S271-44.
Target Information
ASIC1 encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily. These are amiloride-sensitive sodium channels with intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop rich in cysteine residues.
ASIC1 is expressed in most brain neurons and may act as a cation channel subunit gated by extracellular protons and inhibited by amiloride. It is permeable to Ca²⁺, Li⁺, and K⁺ and widely distributed across various brain regions, including dorsal root ganglia, hippocampus, cerebellum, and basal ganglia.
Isoform 3 is expressed only in dorsal root ganglion, while isoform 1 is found in DRG, spinal cord, trigeminal ganglia, and trigeminal mesencephalic nucleus.
