Product Specific Information
- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45592 was sufficient for detection of ASIC1 in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot analysis using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 60 kDa.
- This antibody was formerly sold as clone S271-44.
Target Information
ASIC1 encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily. Members of this family are amiloride-sensitive sodium channels with intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop rich in cysteine residues with conserved spacing.
ASIC1 is expressed in most brain neurons and may function as a cation channel gated by extracellular protons and inhibited by amiloride. It is permeable to Ca²⁺, Li⁺, and K⁺, and is expressed in dorsal root ganglia, sciatic nerves, olfactory bulb, cortical regions, hippocampus, amygdala, cerebellum, and various basal ganglia regions. Isoform 3 is expressed only in dorsal root ganglion, while isoform 1 is expressed in DRG, spinal cord, trigeminal ganglia, and trigeminal mesencephalic nucleus.
