Product Specific Information
- 1 µg/mL of MA5-45593 was sufficient for detection of ASIC1 in 20 µg of rat brain lysate by colorimetric immunoblot using Goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as secondary antibody.
- Detects approximately 60 kDa.
- Formerly sold as clone S271-44.
Target Information
ASIC1 encodes a member of the degenerin/epithelial sodium channel (DEG/ENaC) superfamily. These amiloride-sensitive sodium channels possess intracellular N and C termini, two hydrophobic transmembrane regions, and a large extracellular loop with conserved cysteine spacing.
ASIC1 is expressed in most brain neurons and may function as an ion channel subunit. It is a cation channel with high sodium affinity, gated by extracellular protons and inhibited by amiloride. ASIC1 is permeable to Ca²⁺, Li⁺, and K⁺ and is expressed in dorsal root ganglia, sciatic nerves, olfactory bulb, cortical regions, hippocampus, amygdala, cerebellum, and other brain regions. Isoform 3 is found only in dorsal root ganglion, while isoform 1 is expressed in DRG, spinal cord, trigeminal ganglia, and trigeminal mesencephalic nucleus.
