Description:
The M1/70 monoclonal antibody reacts with mouse CD11b (integrin alphaM, 165–170 kDa). CD11b associates with CD18 to form the Mac-1 (αMβ2 integrin) complex, binding to CD54 (ICAM-1), C3bi, and fibrinogen. Mac-1 is expressed on macrophages, NK cells, granulocytes, activated lymphocytes, and B-1 cells in the peritoneal cavity. M1/70 cross-reacts with human CD11b and detects this antigen on human monocytes, granulocytes, and some NK cells. CD11b participates in adhesive cell interactions.

Applications Reported:
Validated for flow cytometric analysis.

Applications Tested:
Tested by flow cytometry using mouse splenocytes or bone marrow cells at ≤0.125 µg/test (per 100 µL final volume). Optimal titration recommended.

Target Information

CD11b (integrin alpha-M, ITGAM) forms a heterodimer with CD18, known as Mac-1 or CR3. It is expressed on monocytes/macrophages, granulocytes, activated lymphocytes, NK cells, dendritic cells, and microglia. CD11b/CD18 binds ICAM-1, ICAM-2, ICAM-4, CD14, CD23, fibrinogen, and Factor X, mediating cell adhesion and immune interactions. Expression levels vary by cell type and tissue; it serves as a microglial marker in nervous tissue. CD11b dysfunction is associated with systemic lupus erythematosus and related conditions.
