Target Information
Follistatin is a single-chain gonadal protein that specifically inhibits follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) release. The FST gene encodes two isoforms, FST317 and FST344 (317 and 344 amino acids respectively), generated through alternative splicing.
Studies have shown linkage between follistatin and polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) or hyperandrogenemia in certain families.
