Target Information
CHEK2 (CHK2) is a serine/threonine kinase involved in the DNA damage checkpoint pathway. Mutations in CHK2 are linked to various cancers.
CHK2 is activated by DNA damage and phosphorylates several modulators of cell cycle control, including tumor suppressor proteins.
It can phosphorylate BRCA1, aiding survival after DNA damage. CHK2 is considered a tumor suppressor protein, with mutations associated with Li-Fraumeni syndrome, sarcomas, breast cancer, and brain tumors.
