Target Information
UCK2 catalyzes the phosphorylation of uridine monophosphate to uridine diphosphate, the first step in the production of pyrimidine nucleoside triphosphates required for RNA and DNA synthesis. An allele of this gene may also play a role in mediating nonhumoral immunity to Haemophilus influenzae type B.
