Target Information
MELK is a serine/threonine kinase related to the AMPK family, involved in cell cycle regulation and apoptosis.
It phosphorylates BCL2L14, CDC25B, MAP3K5/ASK1, and ZNF622, influencing cell proliferation and carcinogenesis.
MELK is overexpressed in various cancers and is considered a potential therapeutic target.
It also plays roles in neural progenitor proliferation and spliceosome assembly inhibition during mitosis.
