Product Specific Information

This antibody detects endogenous levels of HER4 only when phosphorylated at Tyrosine 1284.

Target Information

Oncogene ERBB4 (HER4) is a member of the type I receptor protein tyrosine kinase subfamily that includes EGFR, ERBB2, and ERBB3.
ERBB4 binds and is activated by neuregulins and other factors, inducing cellular responses such as mitogenesis and differentiation.
ErbB4 acts as a receptor for heregulin and mediates tyrosine phosphorylation signaling pathways involved in metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, apoptosis, and differentiation.

ErbB4 expression is prominent in several breast carcinoma cell lines and in normal skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum.
High mRNA levels are observed in T47-D, MDA-MB-453, BT-474, and H3396 cell lines, while intermediate levels occur in MCF-7, MDA-MB-330, and MDA-MB-361.
Expression is low or absent in some lines such as MDA-MB-231, MDA-MB-157, MDA-MB-468, and SKBR-3.
Elevated ErbB4 levels in certain tumor lines suggest a potential role in malignancy.
