Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of IKB beta only when phosphorylated at Serine 23.
Target Information
The NF-kB/Rel transcription factors are present in the cytosol in an inactive state, complexed with inhibitory IkB proteins. Activation of NF-kB typically occurs through phosphorylation-induced, proteasome-mediated degradation of IkB.
A key regulatory step involves activation of the IkB kinase (IKK) complex, composed of IKK alpha, IKK beta (catalytic subunits), and IKK gamma (regulatory subunit).
IKK activation depends on phosphorylation at Ser177 and Ser181 in IKK beta (Ser176 and Ser180 in IKK alpha), inducing conformational changes and kinase activation.
