Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of Smad2 only when phosphorylated at Serine 250.
Target Information
SMAD2 (MADH2, MAD2) regulates multiple cellular processes such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, and differentiation. It interacts with TGF-beta receptors through the SMAD anchor for receptor activation (SARA). Phosphorylation of SMAD2 by TGF-beta receptors induces dissociation from SARA and association with SMAD4, enabling nuclear translocation and transcriptional regulation. SMAD2 can also be phosphorylated by activin type 1 receptor kinase and mediates activin signaling. Alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding SMAD2 have been observed.
