Target Information

ASAP1, also known as Development and Differentiation Enhancing Factor 1, is a protein containing two ANK repeats, an Arf-GAP domain, a PH domain, and a SH3 domain. It forms a homodimer that interacts with SRC and CRK, and its activity is stimulated by phosphatidylinositol 4,5-biphosphate (PIP2).
ASAP1 exhibits PIP2-dependent GTPase-activating protein activity for ARF1 and ARF5, with lesser activity toward ARF6. It may coordinate membrane trafficking with cell growth or actin cytoskeleton remodeling by binding both SRC and PIP2.
ASAP1 functions as a signal transduction protein involved in fibroblast differentiation into adipocytes and other cell types. It is widely expressed in most tissues and is identified as a proto-oncogene associated with invasive breast cancer and other malignant tumors such as uveal melanomas.
