Product Specific Information
The antibody was affinity-purified from rabbit antiserum by affinity chromatography using an epitope-specific immunogen. The purity is >95% as determined by SDS-PAGE.
Target Information
VGLL2 is a master regulator of wing development in Drosophila, acting through a complex by interacting with scalloped, a homolog of vertebrate TEF proteins. In humans, VGLL2 is expressed in skeletal muscle, as shown by Northern and dot blot analyses. In mice, in situ hybridization revealed VGLL2 expression in differentiating somites and branchial arches during embryogenesis.
VITO1 is a clone of VGLL2 containing a scalloped interaction domain (SID). It is highly expressed in differentiated myotubes from the mouse C2C12 myogenic cell line compared to undifferentiated cells. During differentiation, VGLL2 mRNA levels increase and VGLL2 protein translocates from the cytoplasm to the nucleus. Interference with VITO1 expression by siRNA attenuates differentiation in C2C12 muscle cells, indicating VGLL2’s essential role in myogenic programming.
