Target Information

ErbB4 (Her-4, c-erbB-4, v-erbB-4) is a member of the class I receptor kinase family. The protein kinase family includes over 500 gene products and is divided into eight major groups based on catalytic domain sequences (PTK or STK). ErbB4 is activated by neuregulins and NTAK, serving as a receptor for heregulin and mediating HGL-stimulated tyrosine phosphorylation. It regulates various cellular processes such as metabolism, transcription, cell cycle progression, cytoskeletal rearrangement, cell movement, apoptosis, and differentiation. ErbB4 is highly expressed in several breast carcinoma cell lines and normal tissues including skeletal muscle, heart, pituitary, brain, and cerebellum. Elevated ErbB4 expression has been observed in certain human tumor cell lines, suggesting a potential role in malignancy.
