Product Specific Information

For reconstitution, add 100 µL distilled water to achieve a final antibody concentration of approximately 1 mg/mL.
For conjugation experiments using this carrier-free antibody, perform an additional desalting step using Zeba Spin Desalting Columns (7K MWCO, 0.5 mL, Product #89882).

Target Information

The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24. It is frequently activated in tumor cells and plays a critical role in cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression.

Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by kinases such as glycogen synthase kinase 3, cyclin-dependent kinase, ERK2, and JNK regulates its function in proliferation and cell cycle control.
c-Myc is essential for vasculogenesis and angiogenesis during tumor development.

The c-myc oncogene (p62 c-myc) controls normal cellular proliferation and differentiation, while deregulated expression induces apoptosis. Antibodies against c-myc epitopes recognize overexpressed Myc-tagged proteins at either the N- or C-terminus.

c-Myc, N-Myc, and L-Myc proteins are involved in cell proliferation, differentiation, and tumorigenesis. Amplification of c-Myc is found in several human cancers, including lung, breast, and colon carcinomas. N-Myc amplification is observed in neuroblastomas.
Translocation of the c-myc locus on chromosome 8 to immunoglobulin loci (chromosomes 14, 2, or 22) is characteristic of Burkitt’s lymphoma and other B-cell lymphoproliferative disorders. Aberrant c-myc expression occurs in various tumors such as colorectal, gastric, hepatic, mammary, ovarian, and hematopoietic neoplasms.
