Product Specific Information
- A 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45837 detects Alpha Synuclein in 15 µg of human brain cell lysate by ECL immunoblot analysis using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as the secondary antibody.
- Binds within the 81–130 aa region of human alpha synuclein, determined using WB and ELISA with corresponding peptides.
- Detects approximately 14 kDa band corresponding to Alpha Synuclein; a band at approximately 30 kDa represents a dimer.
Target Information
Alpha-synuclein is a member of the synuclein family, including beta- and gamma-synuclein. These proteins are abundant in the brain and regulate synaptic transmission and membrane trafficking. Alpha- and beta-synuclein selectively inhibit phospholipase D2, suggesting involvement in signaling pathways.
Defects in the SNCA gene encoding alpha-synuclein are implicated in Parkinson’s disease. Alpha-synuclein peptides are major components of amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s disease. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms have been identified.
Associated diseases include Parkinson Disease 1 (Autosomal Dominant) and Dementia with Lewy Bodies.
