Product Specific Information
- 1:1,000 dilution of MA5-45841 detects Alpha Synuclein in 15 µg of human brain cell lysate by ECL immunoblot using goat anti-mouse IgG:HRP as secondary antibody.
- Binds within the 101–130 aa region of human alpha synuclein (confirmed by Dot blot and ELISA).
- Detects ~14 kDa band (Alpha synuclein) and ~40 kDa trimer band.
- Does not detect truncated alpha Synuclein (aa 1–114).
Target Information
Alpha-synuclein belongs to the synuclein family (including beta- and gamma-synuclein). These proteins are abundant in the brain and regulate synaptic transmission and membrane trafficking.
Alpha- and beta-synuclein selectively inhibit phospholipase D2, suggesting roles in signaling pathways.
Mutations in the SNCA gene, encoding alpha-synuclein, are linked to Parkinson’s disease. Alpha-synuclein peptides are major components of amyloid plaques in Alzheimer’s disease.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts encoding different isoforms exist.
Associated diseases include Parkinson Disease 1 (Autosomal Dominant) and Lewy Body Dementia.
