Target Information
The PKC family of serine/threonine kinases, including PRKCA (PKC alpha), is activated intracellularly by signal transduction pathways. In humans, at least 12 PKC isoforms have been identified, differing in structure, tissue distribution, and regulatory mechanisms. PKC alpha, beta I, beta II, and gamma form the conventional PKC family, which are Ca²⁺- and phospholipid-dependent. PKC enzymes phosphorylate diverse protein targets and play key roles in cellular signaling, serving as receptors for phorbol esters. PRKCA is implicated in processes such as cell adhesion, transformation, cell cycle control, and cardiac contractility regulation.
