Preparation:
Produced from sera of goats immunized with highly pure Recombinant Rat IL-1α. The anti-Rat IL-1α-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and subsequently biotinylated.

Sandwich ELISA:
To detect Rat IL-1α using sandwich ELISA (100 µL/well antibody solution), use this antibody at 0.25–1.0 µg/mL. When paired with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Rat IL-1α (500-P180G) as a capture antibody, it allows detection of at least 0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant Rat IL-1α.

Western Blot:
For detection of Rat IL-1α by Western blot, use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. In conjunction with compatible secondary reagents, the detection limit for Recombinant Rat IL-1α is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under either reducing or non-reducing conditions.

Target Information

Interleukin-1 alpha (IL-1α) is a proinflammatory cytokine expressed by monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is encoded by the IL1A gene, located on chromosome 2q13, and signals through IL-1RI and IL-1RII receptors shared with IL-1β. IL-1α plays a crucial role in innate immune defense, inducing proinflammatory cytokines and acute-phase responses. Its activity is regulated by IL-1 Receptor Antagonist (IL-1RA), which blocks receptor binding through competitive inhibition.

IL-1α is involved in immune responses, inflammation, and hematopoiesis. It is produced as a proprotein that undergoes proteolytic processing and release upon cell injury, leading to apoptosis induction. The IL1A gene is part of a cytokine cluster on chromosome 2, and IL-1α regulates NF-κB and MAPK pathways, stimulating IL6 and COX-2 expression and nitric oxide (NO) production. Elevated IL-1α levels are linked to chronic inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis, psoriasis, and multiple sclerosis.
