Product Specific Information
This antibody detects endogenous levels of PKA alpha catalytic subunit only when phosphorylated at Ser339.
Target Information
Protein kinase A (PKA, cAMP-dependent protein kinase) is a key component of a ubiquitous signaling pathway involved in the cell cycle, cellular communication, memory formation, and behavior.
PKA consists of two catalytic (PKAc) and two regulatory (PKAr) subunits. Upon cAMP binding, the complex dissociates into a PKAr dimer and two activated PKAc ser/thr kinase monomers.
The released PKAc translocates into the nucleus and regulates multiple nuclear hormone receptors. PKAc-mediated activation of tonicity-dependent gene expression is cAMP-independent.
Humans express three PKAc subunits: alpha (present in most tissues), beta, and gamma (testis-specific).
