Target Information
CEP164 was initially identified as a centrosomal protein but is also involved in the formation of primary cilia — the microtubule-based sensory antennae on eukaryotic cells — and in the DNA damage response as a mediator protein.
It interacts with ATR and ATM, key regulators of DNA damage-induced cell cycle checkpoints.
CEP164 is phosphorylated upon replication stress, UV, and ionizing radiation. Silencing of CEP164 reduces DNA damage-induced phosphorylation of several proteins and compromises cell survival after UV damage.
At least two isoforms of CEP164 are known to exist.
