Product Specific Information
This antibody detects c-Myc protein and c-Myc tagged proteins.
MA1-980 has been successfully used in Western blot, immunohistochemistry, immunocytochemistry, immunofluorescence, ELISA, flow cytometry, and immunoprecipitation procedures.
The immunogen corresponds to the synthetic peptide A(408)–A(438) of human c-Myc.
Target Information
The c-Myc protein is a 62 kDa transcription factor encoded by the c-Myc gene on human chromosome 8q24.
It is commonly activated in various tumor cells and regulates cellular proliferation, differentiation, apoptosis, and cell cycle progression.
Phosphorylation at Thr58/Ser62 by GSK3, CDK, ERK2, and JNK is associated with cell proliferation and cycle regulation.
c-Myc is essential for vasculogenesis and angiogenesis in tumor development.
Overexpression or translocation of the c-Myc gene is implicated in numerous cancers including lung, breast, colon, and Burkitt’s lymphoma.
Antibodies against c-Myc epitopes recognize Myc-tagged proteins fused to amino- or carboxy-termini of target proteins.
