Product Specific Information
- Store vial at 4°C prior to restoration.
- For extended storage, aliquot and freeze at -20°C or below. Avoid freeze/thaw cycles.
- Centrifuge product if not completely clear after standing at room temperature.
- Stable for several weeks at 4°C as an undiluted liquid.
- Dilute only immediately before use.
Assay by immunoelectrophoresis resulted in a single precipitin arc against anti-Goat Serum, anti-biotin, and purified or partially purified Green Fluorescent Protein (Aequorea victoria) Serum.
No reaction was observed against Human, Mouse, and Rat Serum Proteins.
Target Information
The jellyfish Aequorea victoria contains Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP Tag) that emits light in its bioluminescence reaction. GFP is widely used as a reporter protein for gene expression in both eukaryotic and prokaryotic organisms and as a protein tag in cell culture and multicellular organisms.
As a fusion tag, GFP enables localization studies, movement tracking, and analysis of subcellular compartment dynamics. This technology has provided significant insights into the physiological activities of living cells.
GFP is a 27 kDa monomeric protein that forms a fluorescent pigment autocatalytically. The wild-type protein absorbs blue light (max 395 nm) and emits green light (peak 508 nm) without requiring additional proteins or cofactors. GFP fluorescence is stable, species-independent, and suitable for multiple applications including gene expression monitoring, protein localization, yeast two-hybrid interaction studies, and FRET experiments.
