Target Information
Fibronectin is a disulfide-bonded dimer with a molecular weight range of 230–250 kDa. In the extracellular matrix of connective tissues and vessels, it exists as an insoluble, cross-linked protein forming high molecular mass polymers. Fibronectin plays key roles in cell adhesion, migration, embryogenesis, wound healing, blood coagulation, host defense, and metastasis. It is abundantly expressed during tissue remodeling and development, and its expression is elevated in non-small cell lung carcinoma. The gene encoding fibronectin undergoes alternative splicing, producing up to 20 transcript variants.
