DYRK1A는 dual-specificity tyrosine phosphorylation-regulated kinase (DYRK) 계열 단백질로, 신경분화 및 신경퇴행성 질환에 관여하며, 다운증후군 관련 학습장애의 주요 후보 유전자로 알려져 있습니다. DYRK1A는 전사인자 p53 등 다양한 단백질을 인산화하여 배아 신경세포 증식을 억제합니다. 또한 SPRED1, SPRED2와 결합하여 DYRK1A의 인산화 활성을 억제하는 것으로 알려져 있으며, HIV-1 복제에도 관여할 수 있다는 연구 결과가 있습니다.
