Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
  • Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

FOLH1 encodes a type II transmembrane glycoprotein of the M28 peptidase family. This protein functions as a glutamate carboxypeptidase, acting on substrates such as folate and the neuropeptide N-acetyl-L-aspartyl-L-glutamate. It is expressed in the prostate, central and peripheral nervous systems, and kidney. Mutations may cause impaired folate absorption, low blood folate levels, and hyperhomocysteinemia. In the brain, expression is linked to glutamate excitotoxicity-related conditions. In the prostate, the protein is upregulated in cancerous cells and serves as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for prostate cancer. The gene likely originated from a chromosomal duplication event, and alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms.
