Product Specific Information
- Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed): Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
- For formalin-fixed tissues: Heat sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C, then cool at room temperature for 20 minutes.
Target Information
This gene encodes a type II transmembrane glycoprotein of the M28 peptidase family. It functions as a glutamate carboxypeptidase acting on substrates such as folate and N-acetyl-L-aspartyl-L-glutamate. Expression occurs in prostate, nervous system, and kidney tissues. Mutations may lead to impaired folate absorption and hyperhomocysteinemia. In the prostate, the protein is upregulated in cancerous cells and serves as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for prostate cancer. Alternative splicing produces multiple isoforms.
