Product Specific Information

  • Immunohistochemistry (PFA fixed):
    Incubate antibody for 30 minutes at room temperature.
    Staining of formalin-fixed tissues requires heating tissue sections in 10 mM Tris with 1 mM EDTA, pH 9.0, for 45 minutes at 95°C followed by cooling at room temperature for 20 minutes.

Target Information

This gene encodes a type II transmembrane glycoprotein belonging to the M28 peptidase family.
The protein acts as a glutamate carboxypeptidase on different substrates, including folate and N-acetyl-L-aspartyl-L-glutamate.
It is expressed in prostate, central and peripheral nervous system, and kidney.
Mutations may cause impaired intestinal absorption of folates, leading to low blood folate and hyperhomocysteinemia.
In the prostate, the protein is up-regulated in cancerous cells and serves as a diagnostic and prognostic marker for prostate cancer.
Alternative splicing yields multiple transcript variants encoding several isoforms.
