Target Information

HDAC2 belongs to the histone deacetylase family. These enzymes act via large multiprotein complexes and remove acetyl groups from lysine residues on core histones (H2A, H2B, H3, and H4). HDAC2 forms transcriptional repressor complexes with various proteins, including the zinc-finger transcription factor YY1, playing a key role in transcriptional regulation, cell cycle progression, and development. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.
