Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the chicken homologue of human CD4, approximately a 64 kDa cell surface protein expressed by thymocytes and a subset of T cells.
Target Information
The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is primarily expressed in T helper cells, but also found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is detectable in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain regions of brain and gut. CD4 contributes to early T-cell activation via association with the T-cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase Lck, and may mediate neuronal damage in infectious or immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
