Product Specific Information
This antibody recognizes the canine CD4 cell surface antigen.
Clone YKIX302.9 was clustered at the first Canine Leukocyte Antigen Workshop (CLAW).
Target Information
The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV.
CD4 is primarily expressed in T helper cells but may also be found in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells.
At the tissue level, CD4 expression is detected in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and specific regions of brain and gut.
It functions to initiate or augment early T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and Lck kinase.
CD4 may also mediate neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated CNS diseases.
Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
