This antibody recognizes Somali wild ass (Equus asinus) but not Grevy's Zebra (E. grevyi) or Hartmann's Mountain Zebra (E. zebra).
Target Information
The CD4 antigen is involved in the recognition of MHC class II molecules and acts as a co-receptor for HIV. CD4 is primarily expressed on T helper cells but can also be found on monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells. It is present in thymus, lymph nodes, tonsils, spleen, and certain non-lymphoid tissues such as brain and gut. CD4 contributes to early T-cell activation through association with the T-cell receptor complex and protein tyrosine kinase Lck. It may also mediate neuronal damage in infectious and immune-mediated CNS diseases. Multiple alternatively spliced transcripts have been identified (RefSeq, July 2017).
