Target Information
Apoptosis Inducing Factor (AIF)는 염색질 응축과 DNA 절편화를 유도하는 단백질입니다. AIF는 최근에 확인 및 클로닝되었으며, 세포자멸사(apoptosis)는 염색질 응축 및 핵 절편화와 같은 형태학적 핵 변화로 특징지어집니다. 이러한 변화는 caspase 계열 단백질, caspase 활성화 DNase, 그리고 여러 새로운 단백질의 활성화에 의해 유발됩니다.
AIF는 미토콘드리아에 존재하며, 세포자멸사가 유도될 때 핵으로 이동하여 cytochrome c 및 caspase-9의 방출을 유도합니다. AIF는 염색질 응축과 대규모 DNA 절편화를 유도하며, 이는 apoptosis의 대표적 특징입니다.
AIF는 인간과 마우스 간에 높은 보존성을 보이며, 광범위하게 발현됩니다. AIF 유전자 돌연변이는 중증 미토콘드리아 뇌병증을 유발하는 결합 산화적 인산화 결핍증 6과 관련이 있습니다. 또한 AIF는 대체 스플라이싱을 통해 여러 전사체 변이체를 생성하며, 염색체 10번에 관련된 유사 유전자가 존재합니다.
