Target Information
The SP3 gene belongs to a family of Sp1-related transcription factors that regulate gene expression by binding to GC- and GT-box elements. SP3 contains a zinc finger DNA-binding domain and multiple transactivation domains, functioning as a bifunctional transcription factor that can activate or repress transcription. Several transcript variants and isoforms are known, including one translated from a non-AUG (AUA) start codon. A related pseudogene exists on chromosome 13.
