• AA Sequence of recombinant protein: GLDFSQPFPS GEFAVCESCK LGRGKCRKEC LENEKPDGNC RLNFLCCRQR I
• Preparation: Produced from sera of rabbits immunized with highly pure Recombinant Human BD-5. Anti-Human BD-5-specific antibody was purified by affinity chromatography and then biotinylated.
• Sandwich ELISA: For hBD-5 detection, use 0.25–1.0 µg/mL antibody (100 µL/well). In conjunction with PeproTech Polyclonal Anti-Human BD-5 (500-P323) as a capture antibody, detects ≥0.2–0.4 ng/well of Recombinant hBD-5.
• Western Blot: Use at 0.1–0.2 µg/mL. Detection limit for Recombinant hBD-5 is 1.5–3.0 ng/lane under reducing or non-reducing conditions.
• Package: 500-P323BT-1MG is provided as 2 × 500 µg.

Target Information

Defensins (α and β) are cationic peptides with broad antimicrobial activity, forming a crucial part of the innate immune system. The α-defensins differ from β-defensins by the pairing of their three disulfide bonds. Six human β-defensins have been identified: BD-1, BD-2, BD-3, BD-4, BD-5, and BD-6.
β-defensins are expressed on certain leukocytes and epithelial surfaces. Besides direct antimicrobial activity, they act as chemoattractants for immature dendritic cells and memory T cells. These proteins are expressed as C-terminal portions of precursors and released by proteolytic cleavage. β-defensins contain a six-cysteine motif forming three intra-molecular disulfide bonds.
