Target Information
Cytokeratins are a subfamily of intermediate filament proteins characterized by their biochemical diversity, represented in human epithelial tissues by at least 20 different polypeptides. They range in molecular weight from approximately 40 kDa to 68 kDa and have isoelectric points between 4.9 and 7.8.
Each cytokeratin subtype is numbered 1 to 20 and shows expression patterns that are characteristic of specific epithelial types and their differentiation states.
Cytokeratin subtype expression is widely used to distinguish between different epithelial malignancies. These antibodies are valuable tools in immunohistochemistry, cytopathology, and flow cytometric assays for tumor differentiation studies.
