HSP100 proteins typically have ~900 amino acids and contain two nucleotide-binding sites.
Yeast expresses an ~104 kDa HSP104 protein essential for protection against stress conditions such as heat, heavy metals, and ethanol.
HSP104 is a ClpB protein homologous to E. coli ClpB, particularly in the nucleotide-binding domains.
